The contents of the hope chest were purchased from an 80 year old lady. The cedar chest had been hand built by her sister’s fiancee in the 1920’s. Her sister found out she had a heart condition, and that she wouldn’t survive childbirth. And so she decided not to get married. This lady left her hope chest brimming with unworn clothing, accessories and various household items. The clothing was preserved in clean, fresh smelling condition….
