This remarkable silk dress was purchased from an ancestor of the original wearer, a Miss Emily Wilcox of Granby, CT who wore this on her wedding day on Nov. 11, 1858. Emily married Nelson O. Dibble, and the gown’s owner kindly provided a photocopy of a handwritten family tree for Emily and Nelson that dates back into the 1700s.
Also with the dress comes an antique silver spoon engraved with Emily’s name – an added bonus that makes the provenance even more exciting!
