In the 1970s (c 1975-6) it was purchased at Harvey Nicks in London by an American lady who brought it home, wore it once or twice and then folded it up and put it in a bag. Fast forward to a couple of months ago (2009) when we wondered whether or not it was still in good condition. I took the dress and its components (there are components!) to a place where I could use a professional steamer and worked on the dress (just the dress) for over an hour, and the result is as you see in the photos I’ve provided.
