I recently purchased this pin at a flea market in Bavaria. The lady had a large collection of this rhinestone jewelry. She explained to me that these Czech crystal rhinestones were once produced in Gablonz, Czechoslovakia. At the end of the war, many of the inhabitants of the area fled the region and relocated in an area of Germany that they named Neu Gablonz, or new Gablonz. The new immigrants brought with them the “tricks of the trade” for making fine and crystal.
