COMES FROM A LOCAL ESTATE IN A BOX THAT READS ~ SUN BONNET MADE FOR E.C.B. BY AUNT HARRIET LOUISE JONES. SISTER OF SARA ALIDA JONES BROWNING ~THE LAST NAME MAY NOT BE BROWNING. HARD TO READ SO CHECK OUT THE PICTURES AND DECIDE FOR YOURSELF.
I GOOGLED THE NAME HARRIET LOUISE JONES AND FOUND SOMETHING WRITTEN ABOUT HER IN THE HISTORY OF WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA. I DON’T KNOW IF IT’S THE SAME LADY, BUT HER MOTHER’S NAME WAS SARAH SO IT SEEMS POSSIBLE THAT SHE WOULD ALSO HAVE A SISTER BY THE SAME NAME.
WHAT WAS WRITTEN WAS MOSTLY ABOUT HER HUSBAND, FREEMAN GAY WHO FOUGHT THE FIRST DAY AT GETTYSBURG, WOUNDED AND TAKEN PRISONER BY THE CONFEDERATES, WAS ONE OF 109 MEN WHO ESCAPED, RECAPTURED, THEN SPENT 20 MONTHS AS A POW UNTIL RELEASED ON MARCH 1ST 1865. ON MARCH 30TH HE MARRIED HARRIET LOUISE JONES OF JONESVILLE, WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA.
AS MENTIONED I DON’T KNOW IF THIS IS THE SAME HARRIET LOUISE THAT MADE THIS BONNET FOR E.C.B, BUT I LIKE TO THINK THAT IT MAY BE.

I was at a resale shop and I spot the shoe and another shoe of the same color, but not a Chanel was sitting beside it and I asked every worker in the store about the mate and they told me this is what came in. How I would like to have the mate, but at this time it is just not happening, but maybe someone out there may have a pair and might need a piece off this shoe or maybe one day I will find the mate to this one and list it.

I wanted a pair of Christian Louboutin Bow T Dorcets in Ivory sooo bad for my wedding that I was willing to pay the very high asking price. Little did I know that when I did research I started to have a hard time finding them and it looked like Neiman Marcus was the only ones in my area that would carry them. I went there and they stated that they were “last years” so they didn’t carry them anymore. The only ones that I could find, in ivory and in my size, being sold were on the internet and from China (of course). It was then that I decided that I didn’t care if they were a knock-off or a defected pair as long as I had the style I wanted. I paid $175.00 for the shoes and anxiously awaited the delivery aaannnddddd — in my excitement of finding Bow T Dorcets online >>> I ordered the WRONG style of Bow T Dorcet. I got the platform with slingback when I wanted the cut away side version :-(((

when i first bought these shoes, unusually for me, i bought em vintage new. i dont think the seller knew much about them; however, she did know they were good. Real Good.
when i received them, i knew the seller’s estimation was correct.
the thing is, neither of us could read the label. & there were no other identifying marks, no size, no made in, no nothing. zip zilch zed nil nada nought.
okay, i’ve had em for a while, still couldnt read the label, still had no idea what they were about, other than that they’re quality. came time to sell em
[ tried on once, indoors. time to sell ]
& i tried to figure it out again. indecipherable. sorta.
here’s a good tip, if you need one:
i did some google searches based on one or two syllables i could kinda make out. this brought me to a lot of pictures of lightning.
& one dress. one runway dress.
turns out, mr Yildirim “Lightning” Mayruk is a major haute couture designer.
in turkey.
{ i know those words dont really seem to go together, but }
apparently they work better than one might think. ie: the americans dont know him, but the italians do.
if that wasnt good enough, when he is paired w/ other designers, they tend to be
{ i’ll be brief to give an idea. dont wanna keyword spam }
stella mccartney, alberta ferretti, alexandre herchcovitch, gaspard yurkievich, etc & ect. i imagine from here you can follow.
now, finding this out this took awhile. made me feel a bit like nancy drew.
{ a little. }
so, for all that, at the very bottom of this very page, i’ve included some runway photos from the man i believe considered Turkey’s premiere couturier.
{ apologies, my turkish is only slightly worse than my italian. }
Mystery Couture Platform Shoes

These shoes have a funny story - to them. I was wearing them the day I met my husband and I started calling them my “lucky new shoes”. The night I met my (now) husband, I wrote his number on the bottom of one of my shoes (for lack of having pen/or paper) and I told him - “I think you’re gonna be my husband some day, because I would normally never write on my shoe for a guy’s number” - 2 years later we were married. These practical shoes were my lucky shoes for a while and perhaps they will bring you the same kind of luck.

Back in the 1920s, if you could pop a few balloons with darts or throw a rope ring around a bottle, you might win one of these delightful canes. I’ve had several, most with dice or dog heads, but this is the first one I’ve found with a porcelain baseball knob. And there is something a little special about this one. The “winner” carved his initials in the shaft. He wanted to be sure everyone knew it was “he” who successfully got over on those carnival people.
