Victorian Bronze Brocade Silk 2pc Brides Travel Dress

The sad story of this dress is that it was made for as part of a young woman’s bridal trousseau. This was her “going away” dress. She was married, but the hapless bridegroom was killed in a horse & buggy accident on the honeymoon. She returned home, placed the dress in a chest and it’s been there ever since, until the home was finally emptied for an auction sale of all the contents over a hundred years later.

1910 LELONG Black Silk & Lace Gown FRENCH HAUTE COUTURE

The bodice is boned, and has the Haute Couture House belting with the name woven in…A.E. Lelong, 18 Place de la Madeleine, Paris. The House of Lelong in Paris was, at the time this gown was made, THE designer house of choice for many of the richest and most famous women in Paris and in the world. Colette mentioned in her 1908 novel that Lelong was “The Label of the Moment”. Owned by Lucien Lelong’s parents, designers Arthur and Eleonore…., the house was firmly established by the time young Lucien Lelong was already designing and sketching for the House. By 1909 he had already completely re- decorated his parent’s salon in almost totally black colored walls, rugs, and flooring (in 1909), and began to sketch and be lauded for his fashion sense. While his initials are not yet woven in his family’s beltings and labels, he was indeed in residence at the Salon at the time this gown was made, already working on his first collections. This certainly has led many to speculate the amount that Lucien himself have had to do with this particular gown’s actual design and construction. We may never know, but the fact remains he must have had some influences on this exact gown.

NWOT Kay Unger New York Silk Silver Metal 4 Dress

A true story…so I’m invited to a 5 pm wedding a few years ago and I search tirelessly for the perfect dress. I am so excited when I come upon this vision of perfection and I buy it, despite the 350.00 price tag. A month or so later the bride-to-be messages me “What am I wearing?”, so I send her a photo. Bridezilla hems and haws and finally emails me back that Tiffany blue isn’t in her bridal palette and would I mind changing. EEERRRRRR!!!!! Well, I decided to take the gracious road and appeased “her royal highness” on “her special day”.

Satin Strapless Rhinestone-Belted Tea Length Dress Sz 8

Those jerks at the dry cleaners left a tiny nick in the dress (detail in the photos), but it’s super small! If anyone is eagle-eyed enough to spot it, it could be a great conversation starter! “Oh, this? Funny story - I was in Ireland when Martin Sheen lurched towards my table with a butter knife in one hand…”

VTG Authentic 20’s Green summer dress XS-S Mob Story

It belonged to my Great Aunt who was very colorful. We have saved it “as is” because of its history. Her haunts included New York and New Jersey. She had gone to a wedding in Atlantic City where she claimed that the hotel was so glorious that there was real fur on the windows for drapes! She was a beautiful slender bleached blond who loved life and played hard. She could sing and dance. She also had a notorious boyfriend. They were out with friends and a killing took place. This dress got some blood splatter on it. Two small velocity spots on the back, which show in the photo if you look close because they are small and a few more on the front and back of the bottom of the dress. You can see where a spot near the knee had been attempted to be wiped off but her friend had told her to leave it as the dress would be her proof if she needed it. Not sure what that meant but that is how the story was told to me. One relative had tried some CSI research and was told it looked possible.

New Wedding Dres San Patrick 12 14 Ivory Mermaid Style!

It’s a sad story. I got married in Venice, Italy. Because we were taking our honeymoon on the Mediterranean, we had a lot of baggage. I paid for my 2 brothers, my BFF and my pastor to fly to Italy a day earlier. My BFF held the paper tickets (they were not e-tickets-so they had to be presented at check in). My BFF got drunk the morning of her flight (she held all four tickets) and missed the flight, as did my other 3 family members). My pastor had my dress. There were not other flights and there wasn’t time to get my dress from Dallas to Wimberley. Thank God I had a beautiful reception dress to wear. I was devistated.
